I just finished "Nation" by Sir Terry Pratchett ... once again an amazing book.
I thought I'd love "Night Watch" for being such a brilliant, thrilling 'whodunit' with so many unexpected turns and an even more unexpected ending - exactly how I would've liked it to end without knowing it when the story unfolds. Then again, I loved "Monstrous Regiment", which is - I think - the best war story I've ever read (who'd expect you to almost smile your head off reading a war story?).
Well, "Nation" is once again a brilliantly told story (it's got nothing to do with Discworld, mark my word). It's philosophy made easily understood, very subtle, so that noone could put a finger on it. It even has some - kind of 'transparent' - romance in it.
Anyway, "Nation" gets an A++ ... or a 12 on a scale of 10. For whom ever read a Terry Pratchett novel this is (another?) must-read.
